The Mauston High School was on lock-down the morning of January 8, as the Mauston Police Department and the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office performed a drug sweep. In a news release from the Mauston PD, four lockers were searched and nine vehicles in the parking lot. According to School Superintendent Dr. Christine Weymouth, it was a part of the school’s “No Drugs in Schools” protocol. The Mauston Schools and the Mauston PD work in partnership to assure a drug free school environment in every school in the district. The school officials will continue to work with local law enforcement and talk to the people who were impacted by the search about their findings.
