The Juneau County Board of Supervisors has agreed to convey the title to the vacant land owned by the county near the county fairgrounds in Mauston to the Juneau County Agricultural, Industrial, and Recreational Society, Inc. (JCAIRS). Previously, the county used to lease the land to JCAIRS. In the resolution, it said that it was in the best interests of the county to have no further responsibility or liability regarding the land because it has been managed and used by JCAIRS. There were some conditions to the situation. One, the property must be used for the benefit of the annual Juneau County Fair and another condition was that if JCAIRS ceased to exist, the land would revert back to the county. JCAIRS also agreed that the county would have and retain title to whatever soil is removed from the land for the anticipated construction by JCAIRS of a holding pond on the land. The resolution passed unanimously.
