Vernon County authorities have reported a two vehicle accident occurred early Thursday morning in the Town of Kickapoo. The accident occurred east of Readstown on US Highway 14 near Espe Road. Sheriff John Spears said that the accident occurred when an eastbound pickup truck driven by 44-year-old Clayton Neprud of Soldiers Grove lost control on the icy road. Neprud’s truck spun out of control and went across the centerline into oncoming westbound traffic lane. 62-year-old Jerry Schaller, also of Soldiers Grove, was unable to avoid Neprud’s vehicle coming into his lane and both vehicles collided. The Sheriff’s Department reports both drivers were transported by ambulance to Vernon Memorial Hospital and the accident remains under investigation
