Two Milwaukee residents were injured in a motorcycle/truck accident at the intersection of Main Street and East Ann Street in the City of Adams last Friday afternoon. An officer was conducting traffic surveillance when he witnessed the accident. According to his report, a train had cleared the Main Street crossing, causing a long line of vehicles. The stopped vehicles had left an opening for other vehicles access to the Cenex station. A 2004 black Chevrolet Silverado was slowly exiting the station and a motorcycle crossed the train tracks at a high rate of speed. The truck braked abruptly, but still struck the motorcycle, sending it skidding out of control. The driver of the truck was a 17-year-old male from Westfield. He and his passenger were not injured. The officer identified the driver of the motorcycle as 44-year-old Steven Johnson, and his passenger as 40-year-old Cynthia Johnson.  Steven was pinned under the motorcycle and “his lower leg appeared to be gone”, according to the officer’s report. A nurse from the Villa Pines Living Center had removed Steven’s belt and placed it around his leg as a tourniquet. Cynthia suffered multiple lacerations to her head, arms, and legs. Both Steven and Cynthia were medically transported for treatment. Steven was cited for unreasonable and imprudent speed and the driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield right of way.
