Vernon County authorities have reported a vehicle versus a horse drawn buggy accident on Tuesday morning in the Town of Jefferson. Sheriff John Spears said a 16-year-old driver was traveling eastbound on County Road KK near Helgeson Road and struck the rear of the horse-drawn buggy. The occupants in the buggy, 21-year-old Samuel Mast and 30-year-old Ervin Miller, both of rural Chaseburg, were injured and were privately transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital. The 16-year-old driver and her passenger were wearing seat belts and were not injured. Sheriff Spears said both units sustained severe damaged and that the horse received several cuts. The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
