A 17-year old Mauston boy was referred to the Juneau County Department of Human Services on a charge of possession of a switchblade. Police said Monday afternoon an officer responded to an apartment complex in the 500-block of Grote Street in the City of Mauston to assist in locating a runaway. The girl was not found but the officer made contact with the boy. He was asked to remove his hands from his pockets. The boy did not immediately respond so the officer conducted a pat down. He told the officer he had a knife and cigarettes in his pocket. A black handled Winchester switchblade and the cigarettes were taken as evidence. The boy was also cited for possession of tobacco by minor. He was fined 114-dollars.
