Authorities in Vernon County recovered a 12-foot flat bottom boat from the Mississippi River on Thursday. Sheriff John Spears said in a release, the Sheriff’s Office and the Stoddard Fire Department responded to a report of a capsized boat south of Goose Island Park just before noon on Thursday. While on scene, they had learned that the boat had actually capsized the night before. Sheriff Spears said two hunters that were in the boat, 22-year-old Henry Dixon and 19-year-old George Dixon of La Crosse, were picked up by another hunter and taken to shore after the boat capsized that night. Both were located and no injuries were reported. The boat was towed back to shore by the fire department on Thursday, where its owner arrived and took possession of it.
