The Reedsburg City Council has adopted a policy of ash tree management in public parks and on city boulevards. The Emerald Ash Borer has become a concern in Reedsburg and the policy takes an approach of making a gradual transition away from public ash trees. The public ash trees are being removed in groups. The first group of trees scheduled for removal has begun and is marked with a pink X on the trunk. Removal of the first 100 trees should be completed prior to March 31st. The stumps will be removed as well and topsoil and seed will be put in their place sometime next spring. The City Council has approved funding for the purchase and planting of a diversity of trees in 2015. Property owners adjacent to the trees being removed will be allowed to request one of those trees to be planted on the boulevard. Contact Steven Zibell at 608-524-6404 with any further questions.
