Vernon County Sheriff John Spears Reports

SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING February 2, 2015.

1/26  Carol Franke, Yuba, was traveling eastbound on State Hwy 82, Town of Union, when she struck a horse that was in the roadway.  The vehicle was towed due to damages and no injuries were reported.

1/27  A group of mailboxes were struck with a vehicle on Monson Road in the Town of Franklin.

1/30 Michelle Widner, Viola, was backing up in Viola House parking lot when she struck a legally parked vehicle owned by Kayce Chadwick, Viroqua.  No injuries were incurred.

1/30 Amanda Tulley, Ontario,  was traveling on State Hwy 82, Town of Webster, when she lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch striking a highway sign and large rocks.  The vehicle was towed, but no injuries were reported.

1/31 Baby girl clothes were found in a bag next to a garage on Lietke Lane, Town of Harmony.

1/31 Christy Hugill of Fennimore was traveling southbound on State Hwy 61, Town of Kickapoo, when she lost control due to snow and crossed the centerline striking the guardrail.  Both driver and passenger were wearing their seatbelts.  No injuries were reported.

2/1 Menno Schlabach of Readstown was traveling Northbound on US Hwy 14, Town of Franklin, when he lost control of his vehicle crossing the centerline causing him to strike the guardrail.  No injuries were reported.

2/1 Michael Young was plowing snow on Evergreen Court, Village of Stoddard.  A vehicle belonging to Lucas Evans was illegally parked facing southbound in the northbound lane of traffic.  The Young vehicle struck Evan’s vehicle on the passenger side.  No injuries were reported.

2/1 Madison Grander lost control on a curve of Hwy 14 West of Readstown, Town of Kickapoo.  She had to be towed from the ditch, but no injuries were reported.

2/2                   10 reportable car/deer crashes:

Murray Woods, Onalaska, on US Hwy 14, Town of Christiana;

Ross Nelson, Richland Center, on Pine Avenue, Town of Union;

Rachel Sherman, La Farge, on HWY 82, Town of Webster;

Jesse Janzen, Westby, on HWY 56, Town of Jefferson;

Chad Graves, La Farge, on HWY D, Town of Stark;

Chad Graves, La Farge, on Hwy 82, Town of Viroqua;

Roderick Erlandson, Coon Valley, on Brinkman Ridge Road, Town of Hamburg;

Russell Cornford, Coon Valley, Hwy 14, Town of Coon;
