The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is conducting a construction information meeting to discuss the contractor’s schedule and traffic impacts for the upcoming bridge improvement project on the WIS 21 bridge over I-39, located in Coloma.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Village Hall, 155 North Front Street, Coloma. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss planned construction activities, the construction schedule, and traffic impacts.
The WIS 21 bridge improvement includes:
- Raising the east end of the bridge to increase vertical clearance
- Milling and resurfacing the bridge deck
- Replacing the WIS 21 bridge guardrail, pavement, and shoulders
- Placing an asphalt overlay on northbound I-39 under the WIS 21 bridge to preserve the pavement
During construction, the WIS 21 bridge will be closed to east and westbound traffic:
- WIS 21 westbound traffic will be detoured via I-39 to the County V interchange and then back to the WIS 21 interchange.
- WIS 21 eastbound traffic will be detoured via I-39 to the Marquette County E/J interchange, and then back the WIS 21 interchange.
- The I-39 northbound and southbound on/off-ramps will remain open during the bridge closure.
Crews may close the bridge as early as March 16, 2015. The bridge is scheduled to reopen before Memorial Day. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status. For more information, contact WisDOT region communications manager, Kristin McHugh, at (715) 421-8380.
