The Hillsboro School Board held its monthly meeting on Monday night. Superintendent Curt Bisareck said the board approved language in the Tech Excellence Scholarship Policy for a state sponsored scholarship to be awarded to a student pursuing a technical college degree. The board also approved a pilot course of High School Social Media Interns. Bisareck said the course will be offered for the 2nd semester and will focus on enhancing the District’s social media presence. The board also established the number of open enrollment spaces, renewed 2-year contract for athletic trainer services provided by Hess Memorial Hospital, and approved a contract with Key Benefits for performing a state-required actuarial study. Bisareck said the board also approved a 2015-16 contract with CESA 5 for special education services. After a closed session, the board approved contracts for Business Manager Mindy Lankey, Superintendent Bisarek, and approved hiring Ryan Budnik as varsity baseball coach. The Class of 2015 Valedictorian and Salutatorian were recognized at the meeting. Valedictorian is Madeline Tengblad and Salutatorian is Sarah Fick. The next regular school board meeting for the Hillsboro School District is March 9 at 7:00 pm in the High School Library Conference Room.
