A Janesville man received five citations for an accident he was involved in last Thursday on Highway 58 in the Town of Summit. According to police reports, 25-year old Scott Martinek of Janesville was south-bound and lost control of his vehicle which entered the south-bound ditch and struck a Highway curve sign. Martinek left the scene prior to notifying law enforcement officials but later told officers he swerved to miss a deer, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. Law enforcement officials noticed no such marks on the roadway and Martinek also was found to have his driving status suspended at the time of the crash and Martinek admitted to knowing that to be true. Martinek was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control, operating after suspension, hit and run-property adjacent to Highway, failure of operator to notify police of accident and for low tire tread depth on all four tires of the vehicle. Martinek is to appear April 6th for an initial court date.
