The Juneau County Board of Supervisors opposes the state budget proposal to privatize aging and disability resource centers.

The board passed the resolution Tuesday morning to send to local legislators after a presentation by Director of Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Eagle Country, Heidi Randall, and County Board Member John Wenum.

Wenum said, “We are convinced that if this legislation was enacted it would probably be one of the singular bits of stupidity in the history of the state of Wisconsin.”

The number agency has served is significant. “Each week, we receive between 3,000 to 3,700 calls in our offices,” said Randall. She went on to say it behooves them as a county to be responsible about looking at future needs.

The ADRC works with individuals and families who are affected by aging, disabilities, mental health, or substance abuse issues by providing information and access to different services.
