In order to lead a healthy lifestyle in hopes to live a longer life, it’s important to take control of your health. Knowing your specific risks for developing heart disease and diabetes can help you be proactive in making healthier life choices. Knowing your levels of cholesterol and blood pressure, and keeping those under control, may even help to add a few more years to your life.
If you would like to learn some steps you can take to better control of your wellness, be sure to attend the upcoming health fair at Mile Bluff – Elroy Family Medical Center in Elroy. The event will be held on Thursday, May 14 from 7 to 10 am.
You will receive free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, and will have the opportunity to discuss your specific risks for developing diabetes and heart disease with a Mile Bluff healthcare professional. For $10, you can have a total cholesterol test performed (no fasting required), or for $20, a lipid profile test (12-hour fasting). You will also have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and win door prizes!
Mile Bluff’s healthcare professionals will review the results of all your tests with you right after they are completed. You will be given tips on reducing your risks for developing diabetes and heart disease. If areas of concern are found through these screenings, resources will be provided to help you best care for your needs, and all results will be sent to your primary care provider.
The information you receive from these tests, along with the educational tools you will be given, are important steps to help you proactively impact your health. Appointments are required for all services, call 608-462-8466 to reserve your spot today!
