WRJC received an award at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association annual awards gala on Saturday, May 2.
The station received second place in the category of Best Significant Community Impact in small market media for its Million Penny Challenge that was held in July last year. The category recognizes the best action or series of actions by a station that results in a positive impact on one’s community.
Owner and General Manager Jim Murphy said it was an honor to receive the award, but it would not have been possible without the community and the WRJC staff.
“For two years, I have been astounded by the stories I’ve heard and the amount of hard work my team has done when we put on this challenge”, said Murphy. “It’s great to be recognized and to share this award.”
The station competed with small-market stations from across the state for the radio awards honoring work done in 2014. Award submissions were judged by broadcast professionals in WBA partner states.
