The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss safety improvements for US 12 between Waterbury Road and County C near the former Badger Ammunition facility in the town of Sumpter. The meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 at the Sumpter Community Center, E10496 County C, North Freedom. A brief presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by an open-house meeting format.

Proposed improvements include reconstruction and realignment of the highway with a median to improve safety, the elimination of hazardous curves, and combining multiple access points into a single access.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. There will be a variety of exhibits and maps available for review at the meeting. Representatives from WisDOT and Jewell Associates Engineers will be on hand to gather comments and answer questions throughout the evening. Attendees will have the option of making written or verbal comments.

Construction is currently scheduled for 2018.

Citizens who are unable to attend the meeting or would like more information can contact Craig Fisher at (608) 785-9946 or by email atcraig.fisher@dot.wi.gov.
