SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING August 31, 2015.
8/24 Gilbert Chavez of New Lisbon was traveling south bound on State Highway 27 in the Town of Christiana. Chavez said he fell asleep for a second and went off of the roadway. Chavez went down an embankment and came back up the embankment onto the road. Chavez’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. No injuries were incurred.
8/27 James Gallup III of Holmen was traveling north on County Road B in the Town of Coon. Gallup was pulling a trailer, traveling too fast, and did not realize there was an intersection. Gallup could not stop at the stop sign, struck two road signs, and crossed the east bound lane of traffic striking a vehicle driven by Donald Neuenschwander of Jackson, MN. No injuries were reported.
8/28 Jordan Rupp of Cazenovia was traveling east bound on County Road Q in the Town of Greenwood. Rupp hydroplaned on a wet road and lost control. Rupp crossed the centerline, went down an embankment, and over turned onto its top. Rupp reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed due to very severe damage.
8/29 A small generator was stolen from a property on Will Kumlin Road in the Town of Wheatland.
8/30 A 2 ½ – 3 foot Ball Python was found in a yard on Roosevelt Street in the Village of Coon Valley.
8/31 7 reportable car/deer crashes:
Neal Griffin, Viroqua, on State Highway 56, Town of Viroqua;
Verena Knoll, Ontario, on State Highway 33, Town of Hillsboro;
Renae Hines, Richland Center, on US Highway 14, Town of Coon;
Carrie Schmitt, Coon Valley, on US Highway 14, Town of Coon;
Paula Foster, Chaseburg, on Dodson Hollow Road, Town of Coon;
Lee Cunningham, Viola, on State Highway 82, Town of Forest;
April Wehling, Stoddard, on State Highway 162, Town of Hamburg;
