Ron Kind (D-WI) today made the following statement after voting in favor of the Senate Amendment to H.R. 933, the Continuing Resolution (CR): “I voted in favor of the Continuing Resolution because if the measure had failed, the government would have shut down which would have caused immediate economic harm that we just cannot afford,” explained Kind. “Additionally, the bill we voted on today from the Senate allowed federal agencies more flexibility in making spending decisions than the previous House version, which means those agencies can better prioritize their spending and provide the services many people rely on. “I would have preferred voting for a bill that prevents the reckless sequestration cuts from taking effect, but this CR at least prevents a shutdown that would have caused even more damage.”
