Two juveniles of West Baraboo will be referred for charges for their involvement of damage to property and theft from motor vehicles on November 5. A release from the Baraboo Police Department said, officers had taken 15 reports of criminal damage to property, 7 thefts and 1 theft of a motor vehicle and additional cases have been reported to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office. The two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, were identified during the course of the investigation and admitted their involvement. Officers were able to determine the juveniles were involved in the theft of the motor vehicle which coincided with another investigation for a driver knowingly fleeing police during the early morning hours of November 5th. Officers observed a vehicle commit traffic violations, and as a result of those violations, initiated a traffic stop. As the officers attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the driver sped off. The vehicle was later found in the 300 block of 1st Avenue unoccupied. The vehicle owner was contacted who advised it had been stolen and the vehicle was returned. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Department is also investigating criminal damage reports in West Baraboo that the male juveniles have admitted involvement in. The incident remains under investigation by the Baraboo Police Department and the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department.
