An Adams man was cited following an accident in a construction zone last month. The deputy said Friday morning, April 26th, 2013, at 9:15am 22-year old James Akkerman was traveling south on Highway 13 near Fawn Avenue in the Town of Easton when he failed to see the semi in front of him had stopped for a flag man in the construction zone. By the time he had realized it, he had to slam on the brakes of the 1996 Nissan Altima. To avoid colliding with the semi-trailer, Akkerman turned the car to the right. It started to skid into the ditch and struck the rear tires of the semi-trailer. No one was injured. Akkerman was cited for ‘unreasonable and imprudent speed, and ‘no insurance’.
