CAMP DOUGLAS, Wis. (AP) – A soldier from far northern Wisconsin will become the first member of the state’s Army National Guard to receive a Silver Star Medal.   Other soldiers from Wisconsin have received the award, but 1st Sgt. Gregory Fulton of Arbor Vitae is the first member of the National Guard to earn it.  Fulton will receive his medal during a formal ceremony Friday at Volk Field in Camp Douglas.    He’s being honored for his actions in 2009 when he helped members of the Afghan National Army clear a building filled with insurgents.  The Silver Star Medal is the third-highest military decoration for valor that can be awarded to a member of the U.S military. It’s awarded for gallantry in action against an enemy of the U.S.
