“We have a dream,” said Wayne Olson, a member of the Juneau County Agriculture, Industrial, and Recreational Society Board Saturday morning. The JC-AIRS held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Veterans Park in Mauston. “Initially the Fair Board and the City had big plans for the fairgrounds, but because of the economy the plans had to be downsized,” said Olson. Saturday morning the JC- Airs thanked the Ron and Barb Brunner Foundation for its $100,000 donation to pay-off the $92,000 loan for the bleachers signed by the Walsh family. And also thanked donations from the Don Burnstad Foundation, Manthey Salvage, and countless others. Assembly Representative Ed Brooks said, “Many things in life are accomplished incrementally.” Fair Board President Harold Seebecker said, “The new bleachers seat 1500 which includes handicap space for wheelchairs. The total cost was $124,900. The blacktop platform was laid in 2012 at a cost of $11,000. Our next project is money being raised for the Dairy Barn Memorial Fund in progress with the initial donation from the Holig family.”
