MADISON, Wis. (AP) – A western Wisconsin military base is taking permit applications for special deer hunt for the disabled on its property. Fort McCoy will hold its annual hunt on October 5th and October 6th. Permit applications are due at the fort’s permit office by September 9th. Applications are available on the fort’s website. Applicants also can obtain them by sending an email to the permit office. Applicants can return them to the office by mail, email or by dropping them off. The fort started holding the hunt in 2000. Participation has been increasing over the past five years with about 30 hunters taking part each year. The fort lies in far western Wisconsin between Sparta and Tomah.
