A semi accident has occurred on State Highway 35 near Meadow Lane in the Town of Genoa in Vernon County. On Thursday evening, 64-year-old James Gobrecht of Belmont was traveling south when he lost control of the semi on icy roads and overturned the semi in the Genoa Fish Hatchery pond. The semi-trailer was fully loaded and it took several hours for the wreckers to remove the tractor and trailer from the pond. Grobrecht was able to climb out of the semi with help from Genoa Firefighters and a Sheriff’s Deputy. He received minor injuries. Assisting the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Genoa Fire Department, Genoa First Responders, Tri-State Ambulance Service, and the Wisconsin State PatrolThe accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
