Before we know it, spring will be here. As the snow begins to disappear with the increase in temperatures, the moisture will result in the softening of the base material below our roadways. As the result, weight restrictions are put on several of our Town roads, and on many of our County roads. This annual event is not intended to create financial hardship to our businesses and home owners, instead these limits are necessary to the immediate stability of highways that, without restrictions, would seriously deteriorate when the road base is weak from melting frost. The Juneau County Public Works Department encourages everyone to complete their heavy hauling within the next few weeks while the highways are still frozen. Within the next month, weight restrictions will be imposed on several County roads. A second notice will be given less than a week prior to the actual limits going into effect. All overweight vehicles are subject to these restrictions. Thank you for your cooperation!
