On Friday, December 19th, Tomah’s own Mike Murray will be getting his head shaved off during halftime of the Tomah High School basketball game by a young boy in the area with Cancer.
This boy spent much of the year away from his family receiving treatments in Rochester, MN. He is Nathan Sankey. This year he had the chance to see Santa and when Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas, he said “hair.” This prompted Mike to join him in unity by going bald.
Nathan would like to give Christmas gifts to all of his cancer friends in Rochester when he goes back for treatment. To help with this, Mike is calling his hair shaving event “De-Furry the Murray” and asking the community for donations. He is also personally donating $200. The group that raises the most money over $200 will also have a 5 course gourmet meal for up to 10 people prepared for them by Mike Murray.
