SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING June 22, 2015.

6/16             Benjamin Fencl of Coon Valley was traveling west on County Road P in the Town of Coon, when he saw a deer in the road.  Fencl tried to swerve to miss the deer.  Fencl started to skid, overturned into an embankment, and came to rest, up against a barb wired fence.  Fencl was able to exit his vehicle climbing out of the driver’s side door.  His vehicle suffered moderate damage, and no injuries were incurred.

6/17             Billie West of La Crosse pulled over on Espe Road in the Town of Kickapoo, struck a stump, and stopped prior to going down an embankment.  The vehicle was towed due to moderate damage.  No injuries were reported.

6/18             Dale Blaha of Hillsboro was traveling northbound on Hillsborough Avenue in the City of Hillsboro, when he noticed smoke coming from his car.  Blaha assumed his car overheated and started to walk home.  Blaha looked back and noticed his car was fully engulfed in flames.  The Fire Department was called and the car had very severe damage.

6/19             Leeta Russell of La Farge was traveling eastbound on County Road P in the Town of Whitestown.  Russell negotiated a curve, lost control, and rolled down an embankment.  The vehicle came to a rest on all four tires.  The vehicle was removed from the field and Russell drove the vehicle home.  Russell was wearing her seatbelt.

6/19             Ronald Turpi of Elroy pulled out of a private driveway onto County Road WW in the Town of Hillsboro with a farm tractor and trailer.  Turpi did not see Brandon Miller of Hillsboro coming down the road.  Miller applied his brakes and swerved into the westbound lane in attempt to avoid an accident.  Miller went into the ditch, overturned onto the passenger side, came back into the roadway, and struck the driver’s side tire on Turpi’s trailer.  No injuries were reported.  The farm equipment had no damage, but Miller’s vehicle had to be towed due to moderate damage.

6/21             Janet Stanek of Kendall was backing out of her parking space at Kwik Trip in the City of Hillsboro.  Waldemar Thorson of Neenah was traveling behind Stanek’s vehicle when the rear of Stanek’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Thorson’s vehicle.  Both vehicles had minor damage and no injuries were reported.

6/21             Bryan Knutson of La Crosse was operating southbound on State Highway 35 in the Town of Bergen when a deer crossed in front of him.  Knutson struck the deer causing the windshield glass to break and cut his arms.  The vehicle was towed due to severe damage.
