A rural Viroqua man escaped injury in a single vehicle accident Thursday afternoon in the Town of Coon. Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears said 63-year-old Raymond J. Ackman was operating a grain truck on County Road B. Ackman was traveling down a steep grade and said he was unable to slow the truck for the intersection with US Highway 14. Ackman attempted a left turn onto US Highway 14, but lost control and the truck rolled onto its right side. The truck came to rest against the guardrail, along the north side of US Highway 14. Ackman did not report any injuries and declined medical treatment. Spears said the truck was hauling oats and vehicle equipment may have been a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
