The Royall School Board certified their tax levy and budget at its monthly meeting on Monday. The tax levy was set at $2,618,634 and the mil rate for the district was set at $13.24 per $1000. The final budget for the 2015-2016 school year will be $7,666,374. The board also approved to move forward with A.L.I.C.E training. Board President Doug Waterman said, “The more training the better as we can never be prepared enough.”
The board also discussed the option of a mule purchase. It is a utility vehicle that most schools use to transport sporting equipment to fields along with field maintenance. It would also be utilized by the Building and Grounds Department for day to day needs. Administration is looking into all options including leasing options and some businesses donating one for advertisement purposes.
The board also approved a mandated breakfast and lunch price raise for adults. The prices increased to $2.10 for breakfast and $3.15 for lunch.
Also during the meeting the board approved a resolution for revenue limit exemptions for energy efficiencies. A year ago, the board approved the energy efficiencies projects and raised the revenue limit in order to do so. This year, they begin paying off this debt for these projects and so they needed a resolution to say they could do so.
The Royall School Board meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 7pm in the Royall Intermediate School.
