Xbox One Stolen During Break-in
An Xbox One and case was stolen from a Juneau County residence with a Wisconsin Dells address. Entry to the residence was believed to be threw a broken bedroom window. Damages and loss of property are estimated at more than $1,400. The incident was reported on January 25th.
Dozens of Oxy Pills Missing in Necedah
More than 160 Oxycodone pills of various sizes were reported stolen from a residence located in Necedah Township on the morning of January 16th. Also taken was a Sentry lock box. If anyone has any further information they should contact the Sheriff’s Department.
Hit and Run Charges after Wiping Out Street Signs
Domestic Abuse Charges for a Mauston Man
Jeremy Resler, age 40 of Mauston, was charged with two domestic abuse charges including Strangulation and Disorderly Conduct. Resler’s Criminal Complaint states he was screaming expletives at the victim, while holding her and picking her up by the throat, all in the presence of his young children.
Primary Election Results for New Lisbon Mayor
A primary election for New Lisbon was held Tuesday. Incumbent Mayor Lloyd Chase and Jacob Kallies advanced to the April 3rd election. First time candidate Kallies reveiced 120 votes, Chase received 61 votes and second time candidate Mike Neitzel received 34 votes and was eliminated.

The four candidates who will continue to the General Election in April, and their unofficial vote tally is as follows:.

There are two seats open, therefore the top two in the April election will be on the board.

Warrent arrest in Lyndon Station
Tyler Jay Maihofer, age 23 of Winnebago was arrested Monday evening at a residence in the village of Lyndon Station on a outstanding warrant from the Village of Jackson Police Department. Maihoffer was trying to hide in a bedroom closet when the officers asked him to leave the closet and bedroom. While there, the officers noticed drug paraphernalia and marijuana that Maihoffer said belonged to him. He was transported to the Juneau County Jail on the warrant, and was also issued a citation for the drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
Congressman Kind to hold Open Office Hours
U>S> Representative Ron Kind announced that representatives from his district offices will be holding open office hours in this Third Congressional District. On Tuesday February 27th, representatives will be in Mauston at the Hatch Public Library from 9 till 10am, in New Lisbon at the Memorial Public Library from 10:30 till 11:30am and in Tomah at the City Hall from 12:30pm till 1:30pm. Hospice Touch Offering Grief Support Group
Hospice Touch of Tomah Memorial Hospital is offering a special support group to help people who have lost a friend or a loved one deal with grief. Hospice Spiritual Care and Bereavement Coordinator Debbie Warthan says the program not only helps people now but into the future. The six week Grief Support program will be held Tuesdays beginning March 13th. Participants can choose either the morning or the afternoon times. There is no charge for the program but participants should register by calling Hospice Touch by March 1st.
Year-Long Investigation Leads To Arrest Of Spring Green Man
A 43-year-old Spring Green man has pleaded no contest to two felony drug and theft charges. Nicholas E. Liegel was arrested after a year-long investigation of heroin trafficking in Sauk County. Authorities say Liegel sold heroin to a confidential informant on two occasions. The drug investigation turned up evidence he was stealing copper from his workplace at A-A-M Casings in Reedsburg and selling it at scrap yards. Investigators say he took more than 12 tons of copper and sold it for about 71-thousand dollars. Leigel was arrested last September.
3 VERNON COUNTY ACCIDENTS OVER THE WEEKEND
Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears reports three separate accidents that happened in Vernon County over the weekend. On Friday evening February 23rd, a single vehicle accident on State Highway 56 just east of Genoa. Titus Thies age 19 of Chaseburg lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and rolled his vehicle. He was treated on the scene for minor injuries.
Early morning on Saturday February 24th, Cole A. Lange age 25 of Genoa lost control of his vehicle on State Highway 35 and entered a ditch and struck a culvert. He was transported to Gunderson Health Systems with minor injuries.
Sunday February 26th in the afternoon, 22 year old Corina Hemstead of rural La Farge lost control on a curve due to slush on the roadway and struck a road tube. Hemstead was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.
All incidents are under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
Area Men Involved in Mail Theft and Check Forgeries
A Mauston man is a suspect in mail theft and forgeries in Juneau, Sauk and Monroe Counties. Kevin M. Maun age 27, has been charged with stealing checks from a mailbox in in New Lisbon and passing forged checks at the New Lisbon Kwik Trip in October of 2017 and in November of 2017. Maun has also been charged with felony bail jumping as he was on bond in Juneau County during this time. Cody J. Stanbery age 26 of Lyndon Station has been charged with forgery and receiving stolen property after having tried to pass a suspicious looking check at the Mauston Park Oasis on February 20th of this year. Stanbery was arrested on February 21st for attempting to pass a unrelated stolen check that had been altered. Stanbery reported he as been passing stolen, fake and otherwise worthless checks for about the past six months and returning the merchandise for in store credit.
Burglaries in the Towns of Germantown and Clearfield
On February 20, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a burglary at a residence in the Town of Germantown. They found fresh tire tracks in the driveway and footprints in the snow and that cabinet doors and dresser drawers had been open. Items stolen from the residence were valued over Twenty-five Hundred Dollars. Security video from the residence shows two male subjects who were identified as Anthony M. Ricca age 35 of New Jersey and Edward R. Heaton age 31 of Camp Douglas, entering the home and removing the items. Search warrants were obtained for residence in Camp Douglas where the stolen items were located along with numerous pieces of Drug Paraphernalia. Later in the day, the Juneau County Sheriff’s Department responded to an ongoing break-in at a residence in the Town of Clearfield. When the detectives arrived, the suspects had already left the scene. A resident of the home confronted the suspects who were later identified as Ricca and Heaton before they ran off. Nothing seemed to be missing. Ricca and Heaton have been charged with Burglary, Criminal Damage of Property, Misdemeanor Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Driver Who Hit Buggy In Sauk County Turns Himself In
The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office says a 38-year-old Cazenovia man has turned himself after a weekend accident involving a horse-and-buggy and an S-U-V. Brian Daniels called the dispatch center Monday saying he was the driver involved in the Sunday afternoon crash. Five people required hospital treatment and the horse died after the accident in Cazenovia. Daniels had been charged with five felony counts of hit-and-run causing injury. Two adults and three children from LaValle were ejected when the S-U-V hit the buggy from behind on Highway 58. All five were taken to Reedsburg Area Medical Center for treatment.

LOST ON DECORAH LAKE RESULTS IN ARREST
Sunday evening February 25th, the Mauston Police Department, Mauston Fire Department and Juneau County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a male subject lost on the ice on Decorah Lake. 30 year old John A. Kolinski of New Lisbon was found on the lake and was informed he was going to be arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to Mile Bluff Medical Center for medical clearance. While at the hospital, Kolinski was asked if he had used any illegal narcotics and stated he used Cocaine and THC . Kolinski was also charged with felony bail jumping.
TWO VEHICLE CRASH IN ELROY RESULTS IN ARREST
On Friday February 23rd, a two vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of State Highway 80 and State Highway 82 in the City of Elroy. When Juneau County Deputies arrived, they noticed a white Ford F350 towing a camper had front damage and a grey Chevy Traverse was in a ditch with rear damage. The driver of the Ford, Joseph Lake Allen, age 34 of Morgantown, Georgia stated he failed to slow and stop for the vehicle in front of him and he caused the crash. A small plastic bag was observed to have fallen out of Allen’s pocket and the Deputy asked if was his and he said yes. Allen was asked if the substance was methamphetamine and if he used it and he stated yes. Allen was then arrested on possession of methamphetamine.
Juneau County Road Weight Restrictions
The Juneau County Public Works Department advises the seasonal weight restrictions will be imposed on all County Trunk Highways effective, Tuesday, March 5, 2018 at 7:00 am. Weight restrictions are: 8 ton single axle truck, 12 ton tandem axle truck, and 16 ton combination tractor\trailer. All County roads will be posted with the exception of the following roads sections:
